The Matrix: The Path of Neo marks the second collaboration between Atari and development studio Shiny Entertainment with the Wachowski brothers, creators of The Matrix trilogy, and Joel Silver, producer of the trilogy. In May 2003, Atari released Enter The Matrix, a parallel timeline to The Matrix Reloaded and a bridge to The Matrix Revolutions, which debuted at number one on gaming charts worldwide and has sold nearly six million units to date.

Set in the Matrix universe, The Matrix: The Path of Neo will allow players to play as protagonist Neo himself and relive memorable and important set pieces from the entire trilogy, including the original film. The game will be written and directed by the Wachowski brothers and will feature footage from all three films as well as The Animatrix. The likeness of the main actors of the film will also be reflected, including Keanu Reeves (Neo), Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus), Carrie-Ann Moss (Trinity) and Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith).

The game will have an overwhelming technical section, which will have the physics of the Havok engine and bump-mapping, normal mapping or pixel shaders effects, some used in the Unreal Engine 3. This will allow to show effects never seen before on consoles, being able to see many enemies on screen totally detailed or amazing effects, like complex particle effects or very detailed reflections.

The gameplay will also be an aspect to take into account, since the control will be very precise and exquisite, being able to do authentic choreographies like in the film, in a very simple way. That is to say, that finally we will be able to do the Matrix in a proper way, something that unfortunately we could not enjoy in Enter the Matrix.
